- ✕Writing the job description back at the recruiter. "Responsible for gathering requirements and coordinating with stakeholders" is a duty, not an achievement — every BA does that. Say what the requirement became.
- ✕Zero numbers. A BA who cannot point to a cost saved, a cycle shortened, or a metric moved looks like a note-taker, not an analyst.
- ✕No domain. "Business Analyst" is generic; "BA in lending / insurance / supply chain" gets shortlisted faster because the domain knowledge is half the job.
- ✕Acronym soup. BRD, FRD, RTM, UAT, SDLC stacked with no context reads as keyword-stuffing — anchor each to something you actually delivered.
